In 1962 Anglican Minister Roland de Corneille conceived the establishment of a forum that would promote a dialogue of respect between the Jewish and Christian communities of Toronto.

While preserving the unique relationship between Christians and Jews, the Board of the CJDT fosters dialogue between many faith communities. The unique and deep history of the CJDT has led to developing projects which utilize faith-based and Indigenous insights and values, strengthened by contributions from a wide range of additional fields and disciplines, to address issues of common social concern.
